Dr. Lewis H. Petree, DMD, FAGD
Dr.
Petree grew up in Barrow County and is an Eagle Scout. He graduated from
Winder-Barrow High School; attained his A.A. degree from Oxford College of Emory
University; attained his B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Georgia;
and received his D.M.D. degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He is
licensed to practice dentistry in Georgia and South Carolina.
In 1988, Dr. Petree was
accepted into the General Practice Residency at Richland Memorial Hospital in
Columbia, South Carolina. In his residency, he received specialized
training in wisdom tooth extraction, dental implants, conscious sedation,
advanced cardiac life support, and many other areas of dentistry.
In 1989 he returned to
the Winder area to join this dental practice. Dr. Petree then passed the
Georgia Board of Dentistry Licensing Evaluation to provide conscious sedation in
the dental office. In 1998, he received the prestigious Fellowship Award
from the American Academy of General Dentistry after passing this organization's
elective examination.
Dr. Petree is
an associate faculty member for the General Practice Residency program
at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry,
an alumnus of the L.D. Pankey Dental Institute for Advanced Dental Education, and he's
attended many specialized courses in restorative, cosmetic, and implant
dentistry. He continues to further his education through memberships in
the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the Clarke Area
Dental Society, the American Academy of General Dentistry, and through the
Hinman Dental Society.
Dr. Petree is an active
member of Winder First United Methodist Church and the Chancel Choir. He
also serves as a Community Director for the Barrow Division of Community Bank
and Trust, and he is a Board Member of the Winder Barrow YMCA.
Dr. Petree is married to the former Ellen Ealy of Athens,
Tennessee. They have two children, Holden and Margaret. He enjoys
scouting activities with both children and is a faithful UGA fan!
